Come and join the 2017 team - Call out for a Community Coordinator!

Deadline: Friday 18th August, Noon

This year Thamesfest will feature the Silk River project and we will be celebrating the river on Saturday 16th September between 12pm and 6pm at the Rivergate Centre and a river walk will take place throughout the borough on Monday 18th September.

We are seeking a local resident to join us as a freelance Community Co-ordinator between August and September 2017.  You will be working with us to promote our THAMESFEST which takes place on Saturday 16th September and our walk as part of the SILK RIVER project on Monday 18th September.

This year’s programme includes 3 shows from the Royal Opera House with a range of opera and ballet, James Wilton Dance brings ‘Leviathan’ (based on the story of Moby Dick) and local groups will bring their own making activities for all to get involved with on the day. There will be plenty of opportunity for community participation on the day, including the chance to play within the amazing ‘Cardbordia’ – a wonderful cardboard creation based on our river theme.

‘Silk River’ also forms a significant part of this year’s festival. As part of a year-long programme marking the 70th anniversary of India’s independence and the cultural relationship with the UK, Kinetika have created ‘Silk River’, a project which explores the unique relationship between London and Kolkata through artistic exchange between communities along the Thames Estuary and India’s Hooghly River.

We are looking for a friendly and motivated local resident who is well organised, very connected with local people and has a strong desire to make more activities happen in their local area.  You must have a positive and ‘can do’ attitude and be able to communicate regularly with the rest of the CBD team.
