Cultural Connector Case Study: Hajara Nassimba

‘CBD has allowed me to meet more people in the art industry and also made me realise there are a lot of creative people in the borough.’

I am very proud to be a Cultural Connector. CBD has allowed me to meet more people in the art industry and also made me realise there are a lot of creative people in the borough. To me that is something that keeps me going, knowing that I live in a place where things are happening. The connection it’s giving the community is massive.

I think it is working because we are all expressing our passion for the community and want to move the community forward. Everyone is bringing in a new idea and we are sharing those ideas and I think those ideas are making us live in a better community.

Dagfest has been my favourite event so far because it’s the one where Cultural Connectors get to make even more choices. [It has given the community] a sense of pride. I would like CBD to have much bigger premises so that more and more people can actually meet, making it one of the centre points in the borough where creative people can come to. Everyone is an ambassador in CBD but more structured roles would be good so you would know who to go to, to talk about certain topics. I would like it to become a proper limited company - with all this work, we want this to lead us somewhere.
