DAGFEST is the largest festival led by local residents in Barking and Dagenham.  This is our third year of the festival and we need your help on Saturday 15th July to make sure over 5000 people have a brilliant day.   Come and be part of the fun, meet new people and feel good about contributing to your local community.

Every volunteer will take part in an induction session (see dates below) where you will meet others, learn about what's happening where on festival day and get a full briefing from our team about site safety.  Volunteer shifts are split into two slots this year, either 11-3pm or 3-7pm, so that you also have free time during the day to enjoy the festival yourself.   If you would like to volunteer with members of your family we can accommodate this just let us know when you complete your induction form.

We have the following roles available,

Friday 14th July

Site decorators: Working with Emergency Exit Arts you will support their artists to decorate the DAGFEST site; this year's decorations include beautiful brightly coloured flamingos and flags.  For the last couple of years this has been a fantastic way to start the festival, join us if you can.

Saturday 15th July

Zone supervisors: needed to support and oversee volunteers at each of our 6 festival zones, and at our info point.  You will have a walkie talkie and will report directly to our festival team supporting us to make sure everyone at the festival is safe and having a great time.

Event hosts: You'll be the face of the festivals answering any questions the public have, helping people find their way and talking to them about what’s on throughout the day, assisting with specific performances, and making sure any hiccups are reported to our event team so we can help.   This is a role you can do as a family, so if you have young/old children or any other family members and want to volunteer together we can manage these roles so that you can all be together on the day.

Artist assistants: You'll be matched with your own artists performing that day and will be on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly for their performance. This might include rehearsing their route round the festival with them in advance, checking they have all their props and reporting any issues with their equipment to the production team.  This is a good role for anyone who might want to work at artist events in future.

Behind the scenes site care team: You’ll be delivering water across the site to our volunteers, keeping the production and artist dressing rooms running smoothly, doing a couple of litter picking shifts and generally making sure across the site is clean and tidy and running smoothly. Where you find any problems you’ll be reporting these to the Production Team.
If you’re slightly less outgoing and don’t fancy being front of house with the public this might be the role for you.

Volunteers will receive free food vouchers that can be used at the festival, as well as free hot and cold drinks and snacks all day.  Any travel on public transport or in your own car will be reimbursed.

All volunteers must attend induction training on one of the following dates at Dagenham Parish Church Hall, Church Lane, RM10 9UL. Please click on the date that suits you below. The link will take you to the eventbrite page to register.

Saturday 8th July: 1:30pm - 3pm
