'Sitting Comfortably': Geraldine Pilgrim at the Broadway Barking

Thursday 16th February

We are very excited to have welcomed artist Geraldine pilgrim back to Barking and Dagenham.  We first worked with Gerry in 2015 when we commissioned her through our Landmark Fund to create a new site specific work, WELL, which was created for the former Sanofi Factory in Dagenham. Gerry invited a record number of residents to be involved with the show, many of them as performers.

Gerry's new show 'Sitting Comfortably' took place at The Broadway Barking for one night only on Thursday 16th February.

Ordinarily Gerry works in unique non theatre spaces and this is the first time she has created something for a theatre.  We are absolutely delighted that this new work has partly been developed in Barking and to be supporting this work alongside the Gulbenkian: Sharing the Stage programme through our new Partnerships Programme.

Sitting comfortably is inspired by memories of older people in care homes and has been developed with local residents at the George Crouch Centre in Dagenham. The play focuses on how older people remember happiness and joy.
